Norwex and e-cloth products

Are you looking for green cleaning products to clean your home and are considering switching to high quality microfiber? Not sure where to start? Here is the beginners guide of what to buy to get you started.

It can be a little overwhelming to see all the different types of microfiber cleaning eco cloths that are made by Norwex and e-cloth. I mean how many different cleaning cloths could one person actually need?

Really, you don’t need to have that many. However, the different microfiber cleaning cloths are designed to meet specific cleaning needs so it is nice to have the options depending on your unique cleaning requirements in your home or office or wherever you do your cleaning.

What to Buy When Getting Started With Norwex or e-cloth

These are my must have Norwex and e-cloth microfiber cleaning items. I do the majority of my cleaning with these items or use on a daily basis. I have many other products from these companies that I love and use, but these are the ones I couldn’t get by without.

1. Norwex Envirocloth OR e-cloth General Purpose Cloth

This is the #1 cleaning cloth for each of these companies. These cloths can be used any where you would use a rag or cleaning cloth, sponge, paper towel and most brushes. You only need this cloth and water to effectively clean your surfaces. Here is a list of things I use these types of microfiber cleaning cloths to clean:

  • cabinets
  • counters
  • backsplashes
  • walls
  • all appliances
  • sinks
  • faucets
  • windows and window frames/trim
  • floors – wood and tile
  • wiping the inside of refrigerators
  • tables
  • buffets/hutch
  • china cabinet
  • cabinet shelves
  • door handles
  • light switches
  • stairs
  • handrails
  • sofas
  • coffee and side tables
  • desks
  • printers
  • lamps
  • tv stands
  • bookshelves
  • mantles and hearths
  • carpet (any type of spill…including vomit)
  • toys
  • mirrors
  • bathtubs/showers
  • toilets
  • baseboards
  • doors
  • towel racks
  • blinds
  • shoes
  • car interior – dashboard, doors, roof, seats and carseats

There really isn’t anywhere or cleaning job that I don’t use these cloths. Any time there is a mess that needs to be addressed I grab one of my Norwex or e-cloth cleaning cloths and go address it. If it is a spill or a pee accident (I am still in the child potty training stage of life) I will also grab a regular towel to absorb the mess before cleaning with the cleaning cloth.

To learn more about how these general cleaning cloths made by Norwex and e-cloth are the best green cleaning products and how they work to clean the same or even better than traditional chemical cleaners go to this post on e-cloth vs. Norwex Microfiber Review

2.  e-cloth Glass and Polishing Cloth OR Norwex Window Cloth

The microfiber glass cleaning cloth is a very close runner up for the Norwex or e-cloth must have product.

If you are not interested in the general cleaning cloth, then you should at least get this cloth so you can ditch the chemical laden blue glass cleaner. You only need this cloth and water to easily and quickly clean your windows, mirrors, appliances, etc without leaving lint or streaks behind.

To learn more about these glass and window cloths and my review of the differences check out my post on Norwex Window Cloth vs. e-cloth Window Cloth

3. Norwex Dusting Mitt OR e-cloth High Performance Dusting Glove

Both the Norwex Envirocloth or e-cloth General Purpose Cloth can be used dry for dusting. The microfiber has a natural positive charge that helps attract and trap dust. Or, I have even used slightly damp for dusting as well.

However, it is very helpful to slip on a Norwex Dusting Mitt or e-cloth High Performance Dusting Glove and go to town dusting a room or piece of furniture. The dusting mitt or glove helps you to wipe things down quickly and easily without fumbling with a cloth. And with the thicker fabric pile it seems to do a little better at capturing the dust without dispersing it through the air.

I actually like to use 2 mitts at the same time while dusting. I wear one on each hand with a number of my dusting jobs. I like being able to use both hands to easily:

  • wipe down doors
  • steady picture frames on the wall without leaving fingerprints while wiping the frame and glass with the other hand
  • floor and table lamps
  • dust picture frames, alarm clocks and various knick knacks on furniture or shelves and then dusting under where the item was sitting at the same time
  • wipe blinds

4. e-cloth 2 in 1 Extendable Duster OR Norwex EnviroWand

Take your dusting capability to the next level. Using a dusting wand makes dusting a quick and easy task on baseboards, trim, corners, ceilings, shelves, tables, tops of cabinets and hard to reach places.

Both the e-cloth 2 in 1 Extendable Duster or the Norwex EnviroWand will help you with these dusting jobs. Not too much to think about and just walk quickly around the room with the dusting wand on the baseboards and then again when dusting the corner where your walls meet the ceiling, pausing at the wall corners to run the dusting wand down the corner.

I will also use these products to wipe down the doors when I am doing a quick dust and save the Norwex dusting mitt or e-cloth dusting glove for a deeper wipe down at other times.

These products are also great to do a quick wipe on dressers, desks, side tables, coffee tables and bookshelves. If I have a number of knick knacks or picture frames on these items I tend to use the dusting mitt or gloves so as I pick up an item to dust I can easily wipe under it.

5. e-cloth Deep Clean Mop OR Norwex Superior Mop System

The cleaning mops made by e-cloth and Norwex combines their microfiber cleaning technology with a practical way to easily clean your hard floors. I know many people, myself included, who have used their cleaning cloths to wipe their floors down while being on hands and knees. While that works for a nicely cleaned floor, purchasing the mops that exist is definitely worth the money.

You still get that high quality microfiber clean with nothing left behind – no grime, dirt or around 99% of bacteria (the same or better than most traditional chemical cleaners). There is no cleaning product residue left behind on your floors that can be sticky and attract dust particles. The only “bad” thing about this is some floor types can become a little slippery because they are that clean (yes, I have had kids running in socks wipe out on my kitchen tile floors because of this).

To use these microfiber mops, all you need to do is rinse the microfiber mop cleaning pads under water, wring out the excess water and attach to the mop base at the end of the adjustable handle. During your mopping, you can remove and rinse the mop pad as necessary.

6. Kitchen Products

I have a few kitchen products that I love and use multiple times daily. The first is the Norwex Kitchen Cloth due to the weave and fabric pile it does a better job of picking up larger crumbs from counters and tables, as well as the smeared on grime and dries quicker compared to the Norwex EnviroCloth (although with the way the e-cloth General Purpose cloth is made with a thicker fabric pile it would be sufficient for my needs, I already own the Nowex Kitchen Cloths so continue to use).

Norwex Dish Cloths are great for washing dishes. I love how great these netted cloths are at scrubbing up messes on all my dishes and pots. And that they can easily be rinsed clean, dry super fast and don’t smell at all (think of the typical cotton dish cloth).

The new e-cloth Fresh Mesh Cleaning Pads are a perfect alternative if you just can’t live without a sponge. These pads are designed to dry faster to prevent bacterial growth and smell and can be washed in the laundry machine. These are great for scrubbing up the sink for a pretty shine and getting off stuck on messes on the counter and stove top. Norwex makes the EnviroSponge that would be another traditional sponge alternative that has their BacLock technology (I have not used yet, but would imagine the results would be similar to the e-cloth version).

7. e-cloth Cleaning Pad OR Norwex Bathroom Scrub Mitt

When it comes to cleaning my bathtub and walk-in showers I like to use either the e-cloth Cleaning Pad or Norwex Bathroom Scrub Mitt. This is due to their ability to hold their shape (and not get crumpled up) as I am cleaning. And because of their size, which allows me to cover more surface area as I clean so the job can be completed as quickly as possible.

These products would work well on counters, sinks and even toilets when cleaning. But I have no issues using the microfiber cleaning cloths (#1 in the list) in these areas and find the cleaning cloths make cleaning faucets and other tighter spaces easier then the bulkier pad or mitt.

8. Universal Stone OR Norwex Cleaning Paste

Another product that is extremely helpful for some of the tougher to scrub jobs is the Norwex Cleaning Paste or the Universal Stone. It gives your microfiber cleaning cloth a little more grit and umph to scrub up a mess (such as permanent marker on tile or wood floors…yep, I have done them both thanks to my sweet little boy).

It is kinda like super charging your cleaning cloth on some of those impossible or hard to clean tasks.

I love using both products to scrub marks off of walls and baseboards to easily make my home look new and fresh again (like when we first moved in), without the need to paint. I like using with the Norwex EnviroCloth or the e-cloth General Purpose Cloth.

I use both products (not at the same time) when cleaning my bathtubs and walk-in shower with the Bath Mitt and Bath Pad. It helps to clean off any soap scum, product residue and mildew quickly and with little scrubbing effort. I have heard some people refer to these products as “elbow grease in a jar”.

Additionally, the Universal Stone is fantastic at cleaning and polishing your metal surfaces. Examples are stainless steel sinks, bathroom fixtures such as faucets and is even amazing when polishing silver.

Norwex vs. e-cloth Shipping Costs to Consider

Something to keep in mind is Norwex products might have additional shipping costs depending on where you purchase it. If ordering from Norwex the shipping costs are higher than what I prefer to pay (and the more you get the higher tier your shipping costs can fall into, anywhere from $5.95 – $48.75). If purchased via Amazon, shipping is usually free if you have a Prime membership or on orders over $35.

E-cloth has free shipping for anything over $20 in the Continental US and reasonable shipping costs for orders under $20.

Final Thoughts on Getting Started With Green Eco Cloths Cleaning Products

It can be somewhat overwhelming when you get started with transitioning to cleaning with high quality eco microfiber cleaning cloths to know what products to purchase for your cleaning needs. But it doesn’t need to be.

Hopefully this list of what to buy when getting started with Norwex or e-cloth and the different levels of product packages these companies offer will help to break down the options and offer clarity on what products to start with when starting with e-cloth or Norwex.

When you receive your new Norwex or e-cloth cleaning products, start to use them everyday as new cleaning needs arise. I know at first I was nervous about “messing up” my Norwex EnviroCloth because of how much I spent on it, so I did not use it that much. When I did start using the EnviroCloth on cleaning jobs that arose I quickly realized the value in the cleaning cloth and all that it could do (and time and energy it could save me).
